Our mission: tell people what things cost in health care.
We’re answering questions like this: What does it cost? Why? Why do prices vary so much?
Our tools: reporting, blogging, public records requests, crowdsourcing, data diving and mapping.
What we seek: Proven record of accuracy, curiosity, tenacity, ability to ask the naive question. Public records and data expertise helpful. No health-care background required, but an interest in the topic is necessary.
What we offer: Deep knowledge of the arcane health-care marketplace. Learn the secrets of the billing office, the mysteries of the money.
The ideal candidate will also have some other skills:
–Social media experience to help us in developing our community, and our conversation with the people formerly known as the audience.
–Data background, including managing and sorting data
–Talents in data visualization and fairly easy development, so any of the following tools would be helpful: WordPress, Google Maps, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, CartoDB
Part-time for now. Proudly based in New York City.

Come help us disrupt the $2.7 trillion health-care industry. We’re building the best source for online health-care pricing data.
Each of us knows a little bit of the costs of health care, but nobody’s built a platform that will allow us to share information and learn from each other. Build that platform. Bring transparency to the health-care marketplace. Change the world.
We have a powerful business model and interested funders, and we’re ready to take it to the next level.
As product manager, you will focus on increasing the engagement and profitability of existing products and developing new products. You will build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand customers’ problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.
You must be an all-around athlete, able to work with developers, with journalists, with marketing and sales groups. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.
A product manager’s key role is strategic, not tactical.
Health-care experience not required.
