Mary Steffenhagen is a Brooklyn-based journalist and audio producer. Trained in investigative reporting, her journalistic ethic is shaped by a knowledge of historic injustices and a drive to help right them.
Mary covers healthcare systems and costs for ClearHealthCosts and is an associate producer on The Takeaway at WNYC. She has also reported on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health counseling in public schools, immunocompromised families, working conditions in grocery stores, food insecurity and health misinformation. Her reporting has been recognized by the Sidney Hillman Foundation, which honors excellence in journalism in service of the common good.
