I went in for an angiogram and it was not good. The doctors booked me in hospital and started emergency care informing me and my wife that I may not make it through the night. Then came the insurance info . During this conversation I asked what the total cost would be they said dont worry about it just get well. I asked again explaining that my employer insurance paid 80 % And I wanted what kind of debt I was about to incur. My wife and I had been married 8 years and was concerned about leaving her with crippling debt. They gave me an approximate price some quick math and I said no I don't want the surgery.( my wife had spent 17 years paying off the debts of her 1st husband and wasn't going to ruin the rest of her life) after a long, long argument back and forth the hospital employee with the clipboard the doctor and her left the room.came back and said. " we spoke with the "dept head" and she said the hospital would accept the 80% only. I signed the surgery consent. I was released from the hospita 2 weeks later. 30 days after my release I received a phone call from the hospital. Demanding. 80.000$ at the end of the week. I told the caller what I was told. She said " This hospital NEVER does that" I asked the caller" how many people who make the minimum wage have 80.000 $ dollars. laying around.?" It eventually forced us to go through bankruptcy. 10 years later on a weekend. I got a itchy rash went to the same hospitals satellite near my home as soon as they saw my by-pass scars I began receiving countless cardiograms. They said there was "anomaly" I said I knew about it my cardiologist told my about it. They said " no the machine may be faulty" more cardiograms. 16 in total. Then told me I should get checked out at the hospital I got the by pass at. I said no a couple of dozen times.and that I wanted to leave.there was nothing wrong I just have a allergic reaction making me itch. They then sent in nurses to convince me to go "atleast for observation for the night". I said OK but it must be local they came back and said all local Hospitals are full. They then informed me they had ordered ambulance and I would be charged for it. When I arrived at the hospita an orderly in formed me I was scheduled for surgery at 7 in the morning. I left the hospital ADO .....Still with a poison oak rash
