Amazon opened up its One Medical healthcare the other day, with discounts to its recently acquired medical service, and TikTok was all over it with jokes about late baby deliveries and Alexa giving do-it-yourself surgery instructions.
Amazon’s offer is for $9 a month to existing Amazon Prime members, or $99 a year — a $100 discount from OneMedical’s standard rate. With a membership, a virtual visit will be free, “with unlimited access to 24/7 on-demand virtual care, including video chats with licensed providers within minutes,” Amazon said in the announcement. In places where there is a bricks and mortar OneMedical office, an office visit will also be an option (with the price depending on the member’s health insurance); appointments can be scheduled virtually.
