Our primary tools: shoe-leather reporting, crowdsourcing, investigative journalism and data diving, on our home site and also in partnership with big news organizations. Here’s one example of a partnership.
What we seek: Entrepreneurial self-starter. Proven record of accuracy, curiosity, tenacity. Public records and data expertise helpful. No health-care background required, but an interest in the topic is necessary.

The ideal candidate will also have some other skills, including but not limited to these:
- Data skills, including managing and sorting data
- Telephone interview skills
- Familiarity with WordPress, MailChimp; knowledge of Google, Clicky, WordPress or other analytics
- Social media expertise–Tweetdeck or other Twitter client, Facebook etc.
- Other tech skills including software development, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS
Proudly based in New York City. Temporary and full-time for now. Could grow into something more.
