Our family dr recommended my husband get excess skin removal surgery. He was having constant skin infections from rubbing skin. We wanted the best, so we went to Mayo Clinic. In Jacksonville. My husband had Medicare and since the dr recommended it, we thought it would be covered. We were told Medicare considered it plastic surgery and they would pay nothing. If we insisted on it being submitted, they assured us we would be liable for all costs, $60,000. BUT if we were willing to pay it ourselves, the cost? $12,000. We saw no option so we paid. Care was less than stellar, and because my husband was in a local hospital, we couldn’t go to the follow appointment. Did they ever call to see how he was after surgery? Nope. Never recovered and died 4 months later.
