I'm self employed and have Personal Choice Insurance through IBC. I am disputing the Bryn Mawr Hospital Billing because the doctor coded the pre and post Op observation period as OUTPATIENT OBSERVATION resulting in a 60/40 split for me with insurance vs an 80/20 split for INPATIENT OBSERVATION coding. They have you sign a form agreeing to this just prior to surgery while you are in pain and scared.

I previously entered info but provided the wrong medical code for service. The hospital only billed $7990 and I have a 30% coinsurance due. But my insurance allowed them to bill $14,080.99 increasing the amount I owe by 40%. I will fill out another one, but they also denied the CT Scan required to diagnose my appendicitis and are making me pay entirely out of pocket for that.

My son had an emergency laparoscopy appendectomy at EvergreenHealth Monroe hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital at approximately 4:00 pm on 9-1-18, he immediately informed the staff that he didn't have insurance and requested only necessary procedures. He was told by the admitting personnel that a C-T scan fee would be waived plus anything else that would be possible to waive. My son was safely released from the hospital 6.5 hours later and told that his bill would be mailed to him. It took six weeks for the bill to arrive despite my son calling and returning to the hospital to get the bill. (The EvergreenHealth Monroe hospital billing statement is separate from the doctor and anesthesiologist bills which were charged from "Evergreen Health," located in Kirkland, WA, and operating separately from EvergreenHealth Monroe. I was told that if my son had been admitted in Kirkland, he would've received financial assistance. The doctors reduced their fees by half.) EHM demanded payment in full of $33,048.75 upon receipt. If it wasn't paid within two months, the bill would be turned over to a collection agency. When my son met with financial assistance personnel at the hospital, he was told that he made $300 too much to qualify for a reduced bill, therefore, his request form wasn't even submitted to the "finance team." He was also strongly encouraged to apply for two VISA cards, each with a $15,000 limit, and then use them to pay his hospital bill. When he said no, that there's an 18% interest rate, the woman said, "At least you'll get miles." His bill was turned over the a collection agency in December 2018 and a $5,000 fee from the agency was promptly added to his statement bringing the total to $38,048.75. My son is currently paying $100 per month to the collection agency and $120 per month to the doctors. Questions about billing that EvergreenHealth Monroe never answered: (1) Why weren't any fees waived? CT Scan $4,558.73 (2) What supplies are included in the "Sterile Supply" Code 272 that cost $5,026.60? Med/Surgical supplies $311.85? ( 3) What drugs did he receive, Code 636 $332.65 and Pharmacy, Code 250 $244.12? IV Therapy $907.67? (4) What happened in the Recovery Room that cost $1,942.59? (5) If sterile supplies/drugs/doctor fees are separate, what is covered in the $14,311.80 Operating Room fee? My son and I sent letters to the Administrative Board requesting financial assistance. Their response was that if he was found eligible, a two-year, $1,377.04 per month payment plan could be considered. When I asked if EHM considers that amount an affordable average monthly payment, I was told that it would depend on "the finance team's" approval. Regarding the collection agency: My son gets repeated calls requesting that he increase his monthly payment because his $100 payment includes a $30 late penalty fee. Therefore, he's only paying $70 on the $33,048.75 hospital bill. Thank you for your attention and help. T. Barich

I was in the hospital (ER, surgery and released) total 11 hours

Health insurance cost for employee +1= $3756/year. Calendar year out-of-pocket Maximum medical payment for individual is $5000. Family Max is $10,000. 74177-CT Scan-$4054 44970-Surgery-$4628 99285-Emergency Care-$2032 0272-Sterile Supply-$14,189 These are just some of the codes/cost for this one medical event.

This is just the hospital bill The dr bills are still coming in. I feel for the lady as so far the insurance has not paid any of the drs fees and says that is my cost. last count it was over 6000 for those and they are still coming in

This insurance comes through Ohio Police and Fire for retired employees. Worked 35 years as a police officer. Was completely maxed out on time and had no choice but to retire. This year starting in January Ohio Police and Fire decided to drop all healthcare and had us contact AON to choose healthcare on the marketplace. I am paying $1,156 per month for just healthcare coverage. On this date i had a sudden severe abdominal pain and we tried to call the insurance company to find out what hospital was in network. We could not reach anyone as it was after hours. My wife took me to Atrium Medical Center Emergency Department. I was then taken to surgery for an appendectomy and was kept in the hospital overnight. The insurance states that this is out of network and that they paid the maximum allowed amount. We have contacted the insurance and filed an appeal which was denied. We have contacted Premier Health and they are telling us to contact the insurance again and file another appeal so we are trying to do that. We have made phone calls with no one returning our calls. I am not sure why I should have to pay more than my insurance deductible for an emergency procedure wether it’s in network or out of network.
