I cannot tell exactly what was reimbursed by BCBS because the entire claim including anesthesia, pharmacy, medical supplies & pathology was lumped together and reimbursed in one total figure rather than the individual allowance for each charge being identified.

This was for a Screening Colonoscopy of which was approved prior to procedure, was told and verified with benefit booklet that the colonoscopy would be 100% covered regardless of how many polyps are removed. When I received my EOB and Bill I was found to be have a bill of almost $1,000. I requested an itemized bill from mayo since they don't send them out automatically. I noticed the ICD10 code was incorrect, ( my husband had a screening colonoscopy 2 months prior and his was covered 100%) so I have went thru all the proper steps and requested Mayo to do a coding review, ( they did said they are right I am wrong) and I have filed an appeal and complaint with BCBS of MN. They sent me a letter stating that unless Mayo changes their ICD10 Code the their hands are tied. I had a 3 way call with them (Mayo and BCBS). Nobody will budge! I am so frustrated, We pay for BSBS to provide us with insurance and coverage my screening is covered but with Mayo refusing to cooperate we are stuck with the Bill. I wrote to you thinking my claim was small of only approx. 1,000$ but when you think of how many screening colonoscopies happen and how many times this fraud and corruption happens it is hundreds of thousands $$$. I am a nurse, I know how insurance works and the ICD10 coding system works ect. Mayo has taken over almost the entire SW MN region, they have the medical monopoly in this area, and we pay the highest premiums in the state of MN (per Minneapolis Star Tribune) I am having difficulty making my computer scan documents, could I fax them to you, please send fax number, I will alsoo sign a Release of Info for you to talk to Mayo and BCBS about my case.
