Health insurance calculators: Online tools to figure out what it will cost

People who are interested in the health-care marketplace are curious about what people will do when they start to think about buying insurance.

How much does health insurance cost? How much will health insurance cost?

You know you want to, so go ahead.  Figure out what your health insurance will cost under the Affordable Care Act. Or what it would cost if you were an uninsured mother of four with $13,000 in annual income, or if you were a single person with $200,000 income.

Come on, live a little.

Here are two health insurance calculators: One from Covering California and one from the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.

Joanne Kenen, health editor of Politico, notes: “There is guesswork built into both of them too – we don’t know exactly who will be selling on the exchanges and what the cost will be.”
